Emergency Text Alert System
We use EZ Texting to communicate with our employees. In particular we use it for emergency/urgent notifications for delayed opening or closures due to weather or other extenuating circumstances such as power outages. We also use it when we want to insure all employees receive information they might not have read yet in their email.
EZ Texting is suited well for contacting and connecting with members of a group, especially when face-to-face contact is limited. In a technology busy world texts are read more quickly than email especially with youth. It makes the option relevant to this day and age.
EZ Texting is being used as our Emergency Text Alert system for all employees. It is being used across the entire Pittsburgh organization which is comprised of 3 separate buildings and 3 separate divisions. It addresses the problem of employees not knowing if there would be an on-site situation that would prevent them from coming to work (power outage, water disruption, etc.) or a potential emergency situation with specific instructions.
